The Gift Show

I went to the ASD show yesterday in hopes of finding some beautiful ribbon and gems for my tutus and bows. What I found was alot of jewelry and purses. When I say a LOT of jewelry I mean it. I had a buyer pass to get in so obviously it was wholesale. The next time I go to Claires to pay full price for anything I'm going to think twice now that I know how much they really paid for it. I found some tulle and ribbon (made in China) and some other items that could have worked but were (made in China). I decided that Handmade items are where I want to be using only made in the USA tulle. I took my friend BellaWink thinking there would be fabric there. NOT........ and she hates to shop. So I tortured her the entire day running through the Convention Center and the Sands Expo because I dont like to miss anything. Thanks Danyell. Thank goodness there were some really cool leather wrist bracelets that she wanted so we stopped at all of the booths carrying those to buy and browse.

I'm adding another thing to my bucket list; be a buyer for a childrens store, purse buyer or just work a booth at a convention with something really cool to sell.

One Year Anniversary

One year ago today I opened my etsy website and made my passion for ribbon and tulle a business. Thank you to my friends and family for your support and to my loyal customers. I couldn't have done it without you. I'm looking forward to new adventures and growing my business this year. More craft shows, more items in my shop, consistent branding and packaging and fabric rosettes. Oh, how I love fabric rosettes. So Cheers! to One Year!

Better at Blogging

Well.......... I have decided to start blogging again. I was thinking that on some days my tutus and bows are just not newsworthy but I find other "favorite things" every day. So I'm going to share my "favorite things" as well as new tutu ideas and my new "favorite thing" to make- the fabric rosette. I finally figured out that I dont have time to sit at a sewing machine. Okay, thats life. What do I do with the beautiful material that I have and love??? So I learned how to make fabric rosettes for my embellishing my tutus and matching hairbows or bowbands. I have about 40 made in a bowl on the counter right now. I love them all. Each one is unique and twisted just a little different. Here's my problem; because they are so beautiful I dont want to give them away or sell them. Yes, I need to get over it.

Well, Im back from our Santa Barbara College experience. A bittersweet...... I need to get back in the groove and crafting again............Hopefully the motivation will come from this adorable pic I received from one of my customers. Bristol is my number 1 customer; Check it out!

Vacation

I will be on vacation starting tomorrow until next week, Tuesday, August 24th taking my oldest to college. A bittersweet! She's going to college 5 hours away in Santa Barbara. Im happy for her but terribly sad for me. Wish me luck as I make it through the next milestone of having children. My shop will be on vacation mode so have a great week!
